The Old Style Poetry View of Hu Shi

胡适对旧体诗的态度经历了四个阶段,大致呈现出由求学阶段的反思纠弊,到文学革命时期的批判趋新,到新文学落潮后的平心而论,再到晚年寓居美国后归于通达公允的轨迹。这种变化及其诗论中所表现的矛盾性,暗示出他已经意识到在对待旧体诗这一文体上所遭遇的困境。因而他在看似激进的批判后,逐渐归于理性。而他在公共视野之外对旧体诗的"亲密接触",则说明他在经历了新旧诗长久的对抗后,最终走向了和解。胡适态度的转变也就成了对旧体诗存在价值的一种体认。

Hu Shi＇s attitude toward the old style poetry had experienced four stages： the reflection and rectifying disadvantages in the school, the criticism in the period of literary revolution, fairnes after the ebb tide, and objectiveness when living in the United States. These changes suggested his awareness of the dilemma of treatment of old style poems. And his ＂intimate contact＂ with the old style poetry out of public views meant an eventual reconciliation after a long confrontation between the old and new poetry.
