摘要
早期现代主义的文学批评如果从文学伦理学视角加以解读的话,可以看出,在艺术从移情走向抽象的形式主义倾向中,文学形式主义批评家努力展现或实现文学独具一格的创造性或想象力,同时试图通过语言的使用来调节、组织和呈现现实。无论是王尔德高雅的疏离、詹姆斯对视点他者性的尊重,还是艾略特的无个性化、理查兹情感语言的冲动平衡,现代主义的特征都表现为美学与伦理学相调和、伦理与世界相互渗透过程中锐意的伦理创新。
The essay tries to interpret the literary criticism in the early modernism from the perspective of literary ethics. In the formalist process of art developing from empathy to abstraction,formalist criticism in literature tried to represent or realize the unique creativeness and imagination of literature,and mediate,organize and present the reality through the use of language. As far as Wilde's cultivated detachment,James' s appreciation of point of view's otherness,Eliot's impersonality and Richards' s equilibrium of opposed impulses are concerned,Modernism is not characterized by decadence but by the mediation of aesthetics and ethics,and by ethical innovation in the course of reconciliation of ethics and the World.
