The peripheral ne-rve repair has been one of most dilficult problems in neuroscience. There are ever-increasing research papers in this field over the last 20 years. This article describes the history,the status and prospect of peripheral nerve surgery, especially pinpoints the situation of the use of neurotrophic factors and gene engineering tor peripheral nerve injury and its prospect.
