Developing Pragmatic Competence under the Guidance of Pragmatics

摘要 语用能力(pragmatic competence)指的不是天生的语言能力,而是后天的语言运用能力,即准确理解和恰当使用语言的能力。因此我们要在语用学的指导和启发下训练语用能力。文章首先重温了语用学家对语用学的见解,从中析出多个研习语用学的维度,并将语用能力训练归结为三大训练内容,接着根据前述三大内容讨论发展语用能力的具体策略。我们相信,通过普及语用学知识,让学生练就高超的语用能力,我国的语言教育将会走上一个新的台阶,取得更大的进步。 Pragmatic theory aims at giving guidance in language practice.To have a good command of a language ,one needs not only the knowledge of that language ,but also the skill in using it.Real language skills are not limited only to writing clearly and speaking correctiy;what is more,they require writing appropriately and speaking tactfully, as well as understanding accurately. For all of this, to develop pragmatic competence is necessary.Pragmatic competence is not innate,but acquired;it is an ability to perform,i.e.to understand language accurately and to use it appropriately.It is imperative to develop pragmatic competence under the guidance and instruction of pragmatics as a subject of study.The first part of this paper reviews how pragmaticists expound on the subject.According to their view,pragmatics can be studied from different dimensions,which may be summarized as three main aspects for pragmatic competence training.The second part of this paper discusses the concrete strategies for displaying pragmatic competence on the basis of the above-mentioned aspects of training.Finally,the paper concludes that by popularizing pragmatic knowledge and by developing pragmatic competence we will make language education of our country a new step forward for a greater progress
