Extrusion plastification behavior of poly(vinyl chloride)(PVC) in counter rotationg twin screw extruders was investigated. Functional relationship between conveying capacity and mixing time, temperature and friction was presented.It is found that the bulk density distribution is formed along the C shaped chamber and exponential pressure rise is generated.Solid particulate conveying characteristic is given by backwards leakage flow rate through intermeshing region and formulated as a conveying efficiency depending upon screw design parameters and bulk density distribution. Also, it has been clarified that over 80% of temperature rise is due to the frictional and viscous heat generation inside chambers.
