摘要
长久以来,同简·奥斯丁的其他作品一样,"爱情"一直被视为《诺桑觉寺》的主题。文体统计可以发现,作品中谈情说爱的场景可谓凤毛麟角。本文将借用认知诗学中的图形—背景理论,对《诺桑觉寺》中人物群像进行分析,进而推出小说的主题不在于爱情,而在于表现女性自我认知的过程以及抨击当时金钱至上的婚姻观。
As well as other works of Jane Austen, "love" has long been regarded as the theme of Northanger Abbey, but the stylistic statistics shows that the descriptions about love in the work are extremely rare. This paper tries to analyze the portraits of characters in Northanger Abbey from the perspective of Figure-Ground theory in Cognitive Poetics, and concludes that the theme of the novel is not about love, but to show the process of female self-awareness and the attack on the "mon-ey-first" marriage at that time.
