徐建寅翻译的《电学》和记录他在欧洲考察的成果和见闻的技术性著作《欧洲杂录》，最早全面、系统、详尽地为我国引进了西方近代电气技术知识。这在当时国内对西方科学技术知之甚少的情况下，具有重要的先导和启蒙意义；它为中国近代技术的发展和科技人才的培养创造了条件；徐建寅所体现的远见卓识和严谨务实的科学作风，也为后人树立了典范。

The book Electricity that Xu Jian--yin translated and the technical work--Miscellany in Europe that he wrote during his research were the works that first systematically and completely introduced western temporary development of electric into China. His contribution was pioneering and inspiring at an age when western technology was not widely spread lit laid solid foundation for the development of temporary technology in China and for the training of technical talents. In addition,his foresight and talent,and his rigorous and strict attitude towards science also set an example for the later generations.
