To Explore the Mathematical Interdisciplinary Development from the Successful Experience of Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences

随着数学科学范畴的日益拓展,多学科交叉已成为现代数学的重要特征之一。美国柯朗数学研究所(CIMS)是世界应用数学研究的中心,也是数学交叉学科发展的成功典范。文章回顾了CIMS的历史和现状,总结了柯朗所在构建交叉学科研究平台、实施宽松有效的管理等方面的成功经验,并结合国内实际情况,探讨了一些可供借鉴的积极做法。

The research fields of mathematics continue to expand. Interdisciplinary is one of the important characteristics of modern mathematics. As a worldwide research center of applied mathematics, Courant Insti- tute of Mathematical Sciences （ CIMS ） is a successful example for the study of interdisciplinary develop- ment. In this paper, the history and current situation of CIMS are first reviewed, the successful experience is concluded from the following aspects： constructing interdisciplinary research platform, implementing loose and effective management, etc. Combined with the domestic real situation, the paper explores some positive measures to provide the experience.
