典籍英译与经典重构——基于刘殿爵《论语》英译本个案研究

Translation and Re- canonization of Chinese Classics——Based on the D.C.Lau's Translation of The Analects

民族的经典要成为世界的经典,必然要经历经典化、译介以及翻译文学经典重构的过程。翻译文本能否在目标语言文化中实现经典重构或再度确认,决定了典籍传播的成功与否。在众多《论语》英译本中,刘殿爵译本享誉海内外,被西方称为"企鹅经典"。基于该译本,本文从审美价值、主流意识形态以及赞助人三处着眼,探讨影响经典重构的多重因素,并对典籍英译与经典重构的进程加以分析,力求实现翻译文学的再经典化,并给典籍英译之路以启迪。

Re - canonization is the essential access of transferring the classics of a nation into the classics of a word , in which translation is unavoidably playing an effective role .Whether the translated text can be canonized or re - confirmed determines the transmission process and the re - canonization procedure of the classics . In fact , the re - canonization can be realized when the translation captures beneficial factors in aesthetic value , dominant ideology , and patron . Based on the D . C . Lau＇s translation of The Analects ,the canonization of Chinese classics will be analyzed and presented .
