Mr Liu Jihong in State - run Northwest University

在中国历史急剧转折关头，刘季洪先生临危受命，出任国立西北大学校长三年零三月。对其任内功过，看法有异。现将其置于社会历史的大环境和人生际遇的大背景下，重新加以审视与认识，并着重通过对其在支持青年从军、学校复员迁建、以及推动教学科研事业发展过程中所做主要工作，给以客观公正的阐述，力求还其历史本来面目，以求教于同仁。

At the abrupt turn of the Chinese histmT, Mr Liu Jihong was entrusted with a mission at a critical and difficult moment and was appointed as p^esidem of State - run Northwest University. He worked on the post for three years and three months, and there were different comment.s on his merits and faults. The paper will re - examine and re - undertand Mr Liu Jihong under the grand background of historical society. The author expounds objectively his main work on the aspects of supporting the young students to join the army, demo- bilization, relocating and reconstruction of the University and promoting the development of the teaching and scientific research, and tries to reveal the history in its true colors.
