As the 2014 deadline for withdrawal of American military forces from Afghanistan draws near,the issue of Afghanistan's re-construction has come to the forefront once again.Against the background of the country's third post-war Presidential election,which will be held in 2014,the country's changing political context raises key concerns.While progress achieved vis-a-vis reconstruction over the past decade has helped lay a positive foundation for Afghanistan's political environment,growing conflict within the incumbent government presents a major challenge.At the same time,addressing the issue of the 'rebel forces' is key for Afghanistan's realization of reconciliation and peace in the future.
