Potential cultural cause of the different historical fate of China's ancient academies and Western universities in Middle Ages

中国书院和欧洲中世纪大学的历史演变过程及不同的历史命运，折射出了各自的特定文化背景因素的差异，反映出了中西文化特别是制度文化和观念文化的巨大反差。

Basing on the vertical comparison of historical evolution process and different historical fate of China' s ancient academies and Western universities in Middle Ages,this paper made a deepgoing analysis of their cultural courses. Moreover, a tentative exploration is made in commenting the sharp contrasts between the two systems of Western and Eastern culture.
