A General Description of the Chinese Delegations' Visits to the Western Countries in the Period of 1976-1978

1978年中国政府派出许多代表团对欧洲、美洲、亚洲等一些先进国家进行考察,不仅偿还了"文化大革命"期间所欠下的"外交债",而且还考察了西方国家经济发展状况,开阔了视野,活跃了思想,取得了经验,对中国改革开放政策的制定起到了直接的推动作用。

In 1978,the Chinese government sent many delegations to visit some advanced countries. It was not only to repay the ＂diplomatic debt＂ in the period of the Cultural Revolution（1966--1976）, but also in vestigated the ecomonic development conditions of the Western countries to widen the field of vision, ani- mat the thought and gain the experience. The visits played an important role in making the policies for China＇s reform and opening to the outside.
