《安娜·卡列尼娜》中的卡列宁经常被低评,这与小说叙述中较多地以安娜为中心有直接的关系。卡列宁的自我是高度理性的"自我",他用社会和文化来定位自己,这使他显得机械呆板,缺乏情趣,但也使他成为一个有抱负和有作为的社会人。他对安娜的爱是一种转喻式的爱,他爱安娜及安娜周围的人,虽缺乏激情却平和长久。安娜的出走,使卡列宁携带上"被妻子抛弃的丈夫"这一摆脱不掉的伴随文本,给他带来极大的屈辱。即便如此,他也没有故意施以报复,而是选择了宗教逃避。卡列宁不是安娜悲剧的制造者,而是一个善良的婚姻牺牲品。
Karenin in Anna Karenina is often lowly evaluated, which is directly caused by the Anna - centered narrative skill. Karenin's self is highly reasonable self. He locates himself by the standards of society and culture ,which makes him too boring and lack of sentiment, but makes him an ambitious and outstanding social person. His love for Anna is the metonymic love, which is shown to Anna and the person around Anna, but lacks of passion in spite of being gentle and lasting. Anna's departure makes him carry a non - throwing - off co - text that he is the husband abandoned by his wife, which brings him a great shame. Despite of that, he doesnt take vengeance on her but choose to evade in religion. Karenin is not the maker of Anna's tragedy and he himself is a kind - hearted victim of the unsuccessful marriage.
