Toll-like receptor (TLR) is one kind of the most thoroughly studied pattern recogmtlon receptors (PRRs). TLRs signaling pathways are triggered after recognization of specific ligands. TLRs trigger innate immune responses, prime antigen-specific adaptive immunity and play an important role in the allergy, antivirus activity and chronic inflammation. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common skin disease, characterized by severe itching, skin bartier damage, and increased susceptibility of pathogens. Here we describe the recent advances about expressions of TLRs and genetic polymorphisms in AD patients, regulation to TLRs by vitamin D in AD delopment and the role in pathogenesis of AD.
