On the Stream of Consciousness in Pioneering and Experimental Literature

在改革开放的社会背景下,一批思想敏锐的作家以独特的话语方式进行小说文本形式的实验,被评论界冠以"先锋派"的称号。先锋、实验小说可大致分为两个时期。在前期,作家们全面吸收和借鉴西方意识流小说的特质,避开时代政治主题,关注人的生存状态,展示人的精神危机所带来的意识流程。在后期,意识流技巧得到更加娴熟的运用,它融入到很多现代和后现代的技巧之中,成为中国作家挖掘人物内心奥秘的常用手法。

Reform and opening up changed people＇s life styles, and swashed the previous values and moral standards as well. In a social context like this, a school of sharp-minded writers were eager to dispense with the control of ideology and win over the freedom of literature itself. These writers conducted a series of experiments on text forms with unique manners of discourse and were named as ＂pioneers＂ by critics. Pioneering and experimental literature could be roughly divided into two periods. In the first period, writers fully absorbed and drew lessons from the characteristics of the western stream of consciousness novels. Keeping away from the political themes of the times and paying attention to people＇s living conditions, they revealed people＇s flow of consciousness caused by mental crisis. In the sencond period, the art of stream of consciousness was adopted more sophisticatedly. Merged into many modern and post-modern techniques, it appeared a pot）ular skill of psycho-description for Chinese writers.
