The American writer Truman Capote is good at applying the narrative method of variation of story space in his novels. There axe three kinds of variation, the variation of story space between towns in the southern United States and the cities, that resulted from escaping and that resulted from traveling. Besides being narrative tactics, they also show Capote＇s concern over American society and his deep reflections on the reality. Thus study of Truman Capote＇s novels from the perspective of variation of story space is a new angle.
