To deepen the understanding of the puritan idea of original sin, analyses were made of the characters＇ human nature in Young Goodman Brown to illustrate its strong and deep influence. It turns out that whoever they are： the imam or the ordinary people, the good or the villain, all hide ＂evil＂ in their deepest hearts. The results help understand the theme of this work, experience exotic culture and promote critique thinking ability.
