面对社会经济的快速变动，美国规划师非常关注在新千年规划所扮演的角色。通过介绍2000年11月美国规划院校联合会的专题讨论会，指出美国规划师所面临的挑战，同时也探讨了中国城市规划如何借鉴美国经验以实现与国际接轨的问题。

Facing rapid social and economic changes, American planners have expressed their concerns about the role of planning in the new millennium. This article chanllenges to American planners through introducing panel discussions in the 2000 ACSP annual conference in November, 2000. It also comments on the theme of hina joining the world?in light of the American experience.
