中国美学是时下艺术界关注的热点。从“溪山清远”之中国新绘画在国内外的巡展,到“新水墨”、“新工笔”成为市场宠儿与学术话题,再到由何慕文策划的“水墨艺术：当代中国的过去作为现在”展览,以及2014年将在国内举办的一些大型展览,中国美学已蔚然而成潮流。对这些现象和展览,论者褒贬不一,贬之者往往以逆时而动、炒作、符号化等进行申斥,褒之者则往往以文化身份建构的理由加以辩护。
