中文公示语英译研究——以福清市为例

On Translation of Chinese Public Signs into English——A research Based on the Samples Collected in Fuqing

在讨论公示语的概念、功能、特点和翻译的原则的基础上,分析福清市公共场所实地收集的公示语样本的翻译质量,并将翻译失误归为三类,即语言失误,语用失误和文化失误。其中功能失误是福清公示语英译常见的翻译失误。同时从译者、翻译委托人和政府主管部门三个层面分析了错误产生的原因并提出相应的对策。

On the basis of discussion of the definition, function, features and translating principles of public signs, the author analyzed samples of English public signs collected around Fuqing City and pointed out that the major problems in public sign translation in Fuqing is pragmatic errors; meanwhile the author suggested that the problems shall be coped with at three levels, namely the translators, clients of translation service and government organizations related.
