Experimental Study on Load-Bearing Capacity of Square Steel Tube Columns Spliced with through High-Strength Bolts under Axial Compression

摘要 小尺寸闭口截面柱的螺栓拼接技术国内外研究较少,提出了一种新型的以内套筒作为连接件,以高强度螺栓和对穿螺栓作为紧固件的拼接节点形式。通过轴压破坏试验分析节点的受力特性、承载力和破坏方式,提出节点强度设计建议。结果表明,节点连接安全可靠,但由于存在螺栓滑移,适用于承受静力荷载和间接承受动力荷载的连接中。 Square steel tube has been increasingly used as columns in steel structures. However, limited studies have been conducted on the splice of hollow section columns, especially in small sizes. This paper presents a new type of connection,which connects two tubular columns by using a smaller tube (inner sleeve) as an inside splice component. Columns and splice component are fixed with through high strength bolts. In order to evaluate load transfer mechanism,strength capacity and failure mode of this type of connection, axial compression tests are conducted. Suggestions for strength design are given based on the experimental results. In general, this type of connection is safe and reliable. Because of bolt slip, it is more suitable to be used in connections which are subjected to static load or indirect dynamic load.
