It is very important of accurately evaluating the stability of coal seam, which is not only refer to the engineering layout in the process of coal prospecting, but also .relate to the layout of working face and choice of exploit way in the process of mining. Two methods are adopted to analyze and evaluate the stability of Youshi coal mine Ⅱ1 coal seam, of which are variation coefficient method and equi - block index method, and they have their advantages and practicality, and mutually testifies the accuracy of conclusions, determines that the Ⅱ 1 coal seam of this area is relatively stable.
