The Chinese Contemporary Art Award was established by Swiss art collector Uli Sigg in 1998. This year is its 15th anni- versary, and was marked by a traveling exhibition held first in Shanghai that presented works by former and current awarded artists alongside related documents and artilhcts. As well as being the grandest retrospective of any independent contem- porary art award in China, the exhibition＇s first stop also hap- pened to be at China＇s first official contemporary art museum. These accolades of＂first＂ and ＂biggest,＂ along with the involve- ment of various glittering names, an interactive multimedia pre- sentation, and a documentary soon to follow, collectively lent the event an air of the epic.
