谢章铤《说文闽音通》正卷共考证261个词语,考证了一批福州方言本字、记述了一批福州方言词语、记录了一批福州方言字音,并引证文献解说字义,辨明这261个词语中的古今字、俗体字、假借字,在闽方言词考证上取得了一定成果,但也存在某些失误。

In the book named Shuo Wen Min Yin Tong , Xie Zhangting mainly researched 261 words of Fuzhou Dialect. He also recorded a number of Fuzhou dialects＇ pronunciations, and explained the meaning of them by citing literature. Xie Zhangting distinguished between the ancient and modem writing, vulgar words, and borrowed words of these 261 dialects. To some extent, Shuo Wen Min Yin Tong marks Xie Zhangting＇ s achievements in the research on dialect words, but we should also face up to the defects in the book.
