Reflecting on Regionalism and Continuity in Engineering: The Friendship Hospital Project in Nouakchott, Mauritania

本文重点论述了援毛里塔尼亚友谊医院工程基于地域建筑延续性设计表达的创作理念,探讨如何根据受援助国家当地特有情况,在较低造价的情况下进行适合当地的建筑创作。文章分别从项目背景、设计思路、工程后记等方面论述,希望达到寓传统于现代、以现代语言表达传统精神以及在受限条件下进行适当绿色生态设计的目的,为援外工程地域性创作提供有益的借鉴。

This paper focuses on the creative concept underlying the design of the Friendship Hospital in Nouakchott, Mauritania. It examines the idea that engineering can support regionalism and continuity and discusses the process of creating low cost architectural designs that are suitable to the local situations of recipient countries. Through a review of the project＇s background, key design ideas and post construction issues, the paper aims to provide a good example of and useful suggestions for the regional creation of Chinese government aid projects in foreign countries.
