Hg原子6 ̄3P_1→6 ̄1S_0态253.652nm紫外辐射是系际交叉跃迁最著名的一例,可归因于其单重态6 ̄1P_1与三重态6 ̄3P_1的组态混合.计算结果表明,对于Hg原子的6s6p组态,LS耦合方式仍是其较好描述.
The 253.652 nm ultraviolet emission (intercombination line)from the6~3P_1→6~1S_0 optical decay for mercury atom is the most famous example ofthe intercombination transi-tion. This can be attributed to that the spin-orbit interaction with the mercury atom results inasmall but significant singlet(the6~1P_1 state)admixture to the6~3P_1 state(i.e.,this state isnot a pure triplet state).The calculated resuIt indicates that the LS coupling is still a suitabledeseription for the 6s6p configuration ofmercury atom.
