J.D.塞林格的成名小说《麦田的守望者》中的主人公霍尔顿是一著名的文学形象,人们对他的性格特点各持己见无法达成一致。在精神分析学家阿德勒的自卑情结理论观照下,霍尔顿的真实内心得以展现,他是一个典型的具备自卑情结的人物,他缺乏对他人的兴趣,躲避现实世界,追求凌驾于他人之上的优越感。导致霍尔顿产生"自卑情结"的原因在于他威权式的父亲,软弱不可依赖的母亲以及父母对另外两个孩子的偏爱。
Caulfield Holden is a well-known figure in J. D. Salinger＇ s masterpiece the Catcher in the Rye. Adler＇ s Inferiority Complex theories help people see Holden as a typical person with “Inferiority Complex”. He has no interest in other people, pursues only superiority feeling over others, always tries to escape from the reality. His father＇s authority role in the family, mother＇s weakness and unreliability, and his parents＇ partiality toward the other two children all contribute to Holden＇ s Inferiority Complex.
