It is universally difficult to balance inheriting traditional culture and absorbing foreign culture , for it involves different interpretation of its connotation and subject selection .Being deeply edified in Chinese traditional culture since childhood , WEN Yiduo studied in the US after graduating from Qinghua University , which embodied in him both contradiction and integration of Chinese and Western culture .A scrutiny of WEN ’ s new poems reveals that he showed similar concerns to DU Fu of the mass ’ s sufferings, transplanted drawing techniques into poem writing like WANG Wei , learned from antithesis methods of Chinese classi-cal poetry , together with western poetic techniques .WEN Yiduo ’ s life experience has great inspiring significance for us to deal with the relationship between traditional Chinese culture and foreign cultures .
