Vocabulary is the basic element of language, is the key to English learning. This paper discusses the significance of vocabulary teaching, analyses the critical problems of English vocabulary teaching in the higher vocational education, explores the ways to improve the level of English vocabulary teaching, as reference for the English vocabulary teaching in higher vocational colleges, in order to improve the quality of English teaching in higher vocational colleges all-sidedly.
