During the special historical period when China was torn by the resistance war against Japanese aggression（ 1937- 45）,a group of high- profile universities,together with their highly esteemed scholars and professors,gathered in this frontier city of Kunming,brining it an educational style characterized by patriotism,pioneering spirit,open- mindedness and refined cultural taste,all of which repaid residents of this city with awakened history- awareness and accelerated cultural advancement. This explains,from historical and cultural perspectives,why before long Kunming came to stage a series of world- shocking events and produce a group of figures of world renown.
