元初儒学新旧并存,相互斗争。理学家们对旧金学风提出了尖锐批评,而力倡行道;旧儒学人士出于学术惯性和现实利益,对理学也大加反对。由于异族统治、科举未复等等因素的影响,这种新旧儒学之争具有与宋金时期不同的时代特征。

New school of Confucianism and the old one coexisted at the beginning of Yuan dynasty. Scholars of the new Confucian school criticized bitterly at the old school while supporters of the old school showed highly disagreement with the new one.Due to elements such as being ruled by a different ethnic nation,national examination still not available,etc.,argument between the new Confucian school and the old one is different from that of Song Jing period.
