文化研究派对翻译学定位的反思

Reflections on the Disciplinary Orientation of Translatology by the Culture Studies School

文章一方面肯定了从文化视角出发研究翻译的积极建设意义,另一方面也指出,过于强调文化因素在翻译过程中的决定意义甚至宣称翻译就是文化转换或者翻译的单位是文化,势必模糊"从根本上说翻译是一种双语转换"这一根本事实。文化翻译观在片面强调翻译的宏观层面的同时在一定程度上忽视了同样重要的微观语言处理——语言是文化的载体,翻译中所谓的文化转换最终还得落实到语言上。翻译研究不等同于文化研究,翻译学更不从属于文化研究。

The present paper on the one hand points out the positive significance of introducing culture studies into translation studies, and on the other hand argues that most scholars of the school, to a certain degree, ignore the fact that ＂translation is an activity of language transformation＂. While putting too much emphasis on culture, they care little about the micro aspect of translation--language itself. Language is the carrier of culture and the so-called culture transformation in translation is ultimately dependant on the processing of language. Translation studies is not equal to culture studies and the discipline of translatology is not subject to culture studies.
