FOOTSTEPS OF SOUTHERN ETHNIC GROUPS IN BEIJING

南方民族远离京城,对北京的影响比较小,但往往以包容心怀容纳战乱中的中原难民。在若干重要的历史转折关头,一旦一些重要人物在关键时刻出现于北京,往往引起轰动,说明南方少数民族并非都无能耐。瓦氏夫人、林凤祥、李开芳、岑春煊、陆荣廷就是这样的人物。虽然是偶尔露峥嵘,每次都引起较大的反响。

Due to remote distance from the capital, southern ethnic groups influenced little over Beijing, but they used to show great tolerance and sympathy to house refugees caused by wars in the north. Once some important figures turned up in Beijing at several historical turning points, they usually caused great sensations which illustrated that people from Lingxi area were never groups of incompetence. These figures included Madam Wa, Lin Fengxiang, Li Kaifang, Cen Chunxuan and Lu Rongting. Despite their occasional appearance, they always caused strong sensations.
