Two English Versions of “The Story of Stone” at “Three Dimensional” Translation Comparison

"翻译适应选择论"是从"适应"与"选择"的视角对翻译作出描述和解释的新译学理论。翻译行为就是译者适应翻译生态环境的选择活动。文章将译者对翻译环境的适应与选择作为切入点,从生态翻译学的角度比较杨宪益英译《红楼梦》和霍克斯英译《红楼梦》在语言维、文化维和交际维三维转换上的翻译策略。

The theory of＂translation as adaption and selection＂,which defines its translation behavior as the activity that the translators select to adapt to the translational eco-environment,is to give the description and interpretation of translation from the new perspectives of＂adaption＂and＂selection＂.Based on the Echo-translatology,this paper reveals that two English versions of＂The Story of Stone＂by Yang Xianyi and by Hawkes made different translation tactics at＂three dimensional translations＂i.e.linguistic,cultural and communicative dimensions.
