Objective To explore the effect of the details management in reducing catheter related infection in long-term indwelling hemodialysis. Methods One hundred and twenty hemodialysis patients using long-term indwelling catheters in central vein were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 60 cases in each group. Both groups were performed with routine management of hemodialysis, while the observation group received additional details management which mainly included: strengthen training and the performance of the aseptic operation and health education to patients. Hemodialysis catheter related infections rate of the two groups were compared. Results Hemodialysis catheter related infections occurred in 5 patients ( an incidence rate of 8.3% ) in the observation group and in 22 patients ( an incidence rate of 37% ) in the control group ( P 〈 0. 05 ). Conclusion The implementation of details management can effectively reduce the hemodialysis catheter related infection rate, prolong the service life of catheter, reduce non-planned catheter drawing rate, and improve hemodialysis patients' satisfaction with nursing work.
