This paper analyzes Zhang Ailing＇s Red Roses and White Roses by virtue of the foregrounding theory. In this novel,the author Zhang Ailing manages to employ ingeniously the deviant foregrounding,such as the deviation of word forms,pronouns,word senses,subjectivity（ agents）,and of the story structure,etc.,thus having endowed the novel with a strong impact.
