Rail flash-butt welding produces light flat spots,especially flat spot outcrop and flat spot excessive,which may produce extremely large damage to the welding head. It is one of the main factors leading to the welding head fracture. By exploring sources of flat spot material, identifying the forming process of flat spots during the flashbutt welding,the author gives measures to effectively solve the flat spot problem in practical production,summarizes ideas and methods that could effectively eliminate light flat spots.
