目的论视角下的毛泽东诗词英译研究

On the English Translation of Mao Zedong's Poems from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

目的论认为翻译是一种有目的的跨文化交际行为,其宗旨是创造符合目标语读者阅读需求的译文。不同版本的毛泽东诗词英译本满足了不同阅读群体的需要,实现了不同的翻译目的,这与目的论要求不谋而合。目的论与毛泽东诗词英译有着千丝万缕的联系,对毛泽东诗词英译产生了深远影响,译者目的和风格、交际行为参与方的意图和期望以及目标语接受者的文化背景和社会环境都将制约译文的形成,这在诗词词牌名翻译、翻译过程中诗词形式和韵律再现等方面都有很好的体现。笔者将对同一诗词不同版本的英译进行比较,并分析因不同目的产生的不同译文的优劣,以求在找出该诗词英译值得借鉴的方法和策略。

Skopos theory holds that translation is a purposeful intercultural communication behavior, whose aim is to produce translated texts that will satisfy the needs of target language readers. The different English versions ofMao Zedong＇s Poems meet different needs of various readers and fulfill diverse translation purposes, which ＂coincidentally＂ accord with Skopos theory. Skopos theory, having all kinds of connections with Mao Zedong＇s poetry translation, has a profound impact on it, which can be well represented in the translation of its tune, the reproduction of its verse and its rhythm. Influenced by different translation purposes, different communicative intentions and different background of the recipients, the translated texts will be different with their own merits. The author tries to make a com- parison between various English translations versions of the same poem and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each version due to the diversity of pttrposes so that proper translation methods and strategies will be obtained.
