摘要
物质是否无限可分？宇宙是有限还是无限？这是两个不可完全消解的古老哲学二难问题。现代物理学的发展，给 这两个问题以新的丰富内容。然而，本文作者认为，国内大部分关于物质是否无限可分的争 论是以粒子基元论为本体论基础的争论，是可以消解的。但放弃粒子基元论不能等同于放弃 基元论。而对现代宇宙学主要理论假说的细致分析，并不能得出“现代科学强有力地支持有 限宇宙观”的结论。
Whether material is infinitely dividable? Whether the cosmos is finite or inf inite? Those questions are two old philosophical dilemmas which are unable to be totally removed. Modern physics gives new rich content to the two questions. We think, however, most of debates in our country about the questions of material' s livened dividability are based on particle primarily, they can be removed. Mor e over, based on careful analysis of the hypotheses of modern cosmology , it can 't say that modern science supports the viewpoints of finite cosmos.
