Most currencies of African countries may not be freely exchanged into hard currency; they cannot be used for payment in international trade; their value generally fluctuate according to the changes in politics and economic environment of the issuing countries. Banks in African countries, small in scale, are normally interfered by government. There are not many types of financial services available, and their payment systems are out-dated. There is high return rate in the investment in African securities market, but the market has been extremely irregular and is full of risks. To cut down government interference towards banking industry to create a diversified and competitive banking system to fully put into play the function of marketing in capital setup is the major trend in the existing financial policies of African nations.
