Progress of Studies on Metallic Hydrogen

本文简要介绍了金属氢研究的历史和意义，叙述了金属氢特殊的性质和可能的应用前景，综合评述了１９３５年以来金属氢理论和实验研究方面的情况，特别是１９８８年以来实验研究的进展。

Theoretical and experimental investigations on the physical properties of metallic hyd- rogen and on realizing its insulator-metal transition are reviewed. Emphasis is laid on rec- ent advances in the basic problems involved.
