阮元（1764-1849年）,字伯元,号芸台、雷塘庵主、怡性老人、节性老人、揅经老人、颐性老人等。江苏扬州人。乾隆五十四年（1789年）进士,选翰林院庶吉士,授编修,入值南书房。其后历任山东学政、浙江学政、户部侍郎、浙江巡抚、兵部侍郎、湖南巡抚、工部侍郎、漕运总督、江西巡抚、两湖总督、两广总督、云贵总督、体仁阁大学士等职,卒谥＂文达＂。阮元自经史、小学以及金石、诗文,巨细无所不包,身历乾嘉文物鼎盛之时,

Ruan Yuan was the famous scholar and officer of Qing Dynasty, and he paid an attention to the academic research. When he took charge as the local officer, he called up many famous scholars, such as Qiang Dian, Sun Xingyan, Duan Yucai, Zhu Weibi, Zhao Wei who were good at seal script, to work at his office and improved the development of the ancient style of Chinese calligraphy.
