In light of CBE/DACUM a teaching/training approach from Canada this paper reviews traditional tourism education system in China,and points out that the criteria for qualified tourism personnel should be the standard the real business world requires,the teaching and training programs should focus on competence and skills on the part of the students and so should they be evaluated and examined.
