Designing the New Rural Residence: An Ecological Approach

走生态文明之路是新农村住宅设计的根本,也是新农村发展和社会进步的重要途径。通过分析新农村住宅设计现状,指出新农村住宅设计要以与当地环境和谐共生为基础,以为人设计和可持续发展为根本原则。设计者应立足地域环境,将传统生态观念和现代生态技术相结合进行新农村住宅设计,从而使新农村中的人、住宅、自然环境成为一个不可分割的文明生态系统。

Ecological civilization is the key to designing the new rural residence in China as well as an important approach to rural development and social progress. The present paper, in view of the status quo of residence designing in the country, suggests that the new rural residence be designed on the basis of the harmony with the local environment and in accordance with the principles of humanism and sustainability. The designer should, therefore, give priority to the geographical factors, and incorporate traditional ecological con- eepts and modem ecological technologies in his/her design, thereby creating an integral system of ecological civilization that perfectly unites the resident, the residence and the natural environment.
