Impact of Journalists' Stereotypes on Image Construction: A Perspective of Critical Discourse Analysis

摘要新闻媒体不仅具有设置议程的作用,同时还具有建构形象的功能。本文以美国《时代周刊》的涉华报道为例,从批判性话语分析角度探讨美国新闻记者的刻板印象如何通过篇章、词汇、句式等方法建构中国政府的形象,树立美国新闻道德审判者的权威,占据话语权力的制高点。全球新闻报道是一场没有硝烟的战争,是一场软实力的较量。 News media can not only set the agendas, but also construct the image. This essay cites the examples in Times reports on China, and tries, from the CDA perspective, to probe into the way of how American journalists construct in their stereotypical manner the Chinese government’s image through discourse, vocabulary and sentence structure so as to establish the power of American mass media’s ethnic judger and take up the height of discourse power. The global news reportage is a smokeless war and a contest of soft power between nations.
