English caused-motion construction provides a typical example for cognitive operation in the process of translation.This article analyses English caused-motion sentences with semantic coercion from the perspective of conceptual metonymy,explores the internal metonymic motivation and the corresponding metonymic model,and discusses the translation of the construction with the help of the idealized cognitive model,the previous experience and encyclopedic knowledge.
