The Delivery of Cultural Message in the Translation of The Six Chapters of a Floating Life by Lin Yutang from the Perspectives of Semantic Translation and Communicative Translation

因受到不同的文化内涵、民俗习惯、风土人情等影响,文化信息的传递一直是翻译中的难点之一。英国翻译理论家彼得·纽马克提出的语义翻译和交际翻译常被人拿来进行分析和比较。从语义翻译和交际翻译的角度,通过具体的例证,分析林语堂先生英译本《浮生六记》在传递中国文化信息方面所做的一些尝试。

Due to the differences in cultures,customs and traditions,the delivery of cultural messages has been a barrier to translation.Semantic translation and communicative translation,proposed by Peter Newmark,a British translation theorist,are often employed to analyze and compare translation texts.Based on some examples,this paper aims to analyze the delivery of cultural messages in the translation of The Six Chapters of a Floating Life from the perspectives of semantic translation and communicative translation.
