On the Moral Value and Doctrine of Golden Mean in Confucianism in Modern Times

孔子的中庸思想是中华传统文化的宝贵资源,其丰富的思想内涵可慨括为以"致中和"为思想主旨,以"至诚之道"为实现路径,以"慎独与固执"为修道方法,以"过犹不及"、"执两用中"、"经权损益"、"和而不同"为主要原则。挖掘中庸思想可资借鉴的原则和方法,对当代高校德育工作仍具有重要的指导意义和应用价值。

As the valuable resources of Chinese traditional culture, the Doctrine of Golden Mean in Confucianism has rich connotations which manifest themselves in the followings： ＂Neutralization＂ is the cornerstone; ＂Ultimate sincerity＂ is the path of implementation of the Doctrine of Golden Mean; ＂Caution and self-criticism in being alone, resolution, and perseverance＂ is the practice way; and the principal principles are： ＂Going beyond is as wrong as to falling short＂, ＂Avoiding extremes to keep to the middle＂ . ＂Adjusting oneself to changing circumstances＂ . ＂living in harmony with different values＂. The Doctrine of Golden Mean has important guiding significance in the moral education in our contemporary university.
