The concept of the point of view which was first proposed in the 19th century, promoted the research on the point of view. The analysis of The Magic Barrel written by an American writer Bernard Malamud from the shift of the point of view can reveal the effect of different kinds of narrative point of view, whose shifting will have an effect on the description of the characters＇ mental activities.
